EVALUATION Intro: The project my group have been working on is a recreation of a scene in the film Alien (1979). The famous chest bursting scene in which the alien bursts out of the stomach of one of the characters in the movie. We are doing this project as it was a Tier 3 and we wanted a challenge to face so we came to tackle it, there is also a lot of fake blood which is fun and its a very intense scene. I was the director of the scene and had to keep everything in check, make sure it was running smoothly portray correctly. I was following the films scene and was guiding the technical crew and actors so they had an understanding of the role. Pre-Production: I was tasked with creating the shot list for the whole part of the film which gives a description of what is happening in the scene. Pre-production is the process of planning some of the elements involved in a film, play or other performance. There are three parts in a production: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production ends when the planning ends and the content starts being produced. Today we did a test shoot and bought the camera into the studio, looked and pictured the scene and have got some improvements pending needed to make it a better set, including tables, cereal bowls and cups

SHOT LIST PRE PRODUCTION Today's lesson, I was assigned the role to create the shot list and have now been appointed the Director job of our horror recreation scene from Alien (1979) Chest Burster scene. The filming will take place over the duration of 3 days

Editing Horror & Cut Types Task included, getting uncut footage from folder. "Yellow Man" was the name of my film, in which I had videos I had to cut down so they ran smoothly and with more professionalism and to make it more interesting for the audience. (the film was already terrible)  From this photo you can see that at the start that I used a distorted effect to emphasis and make it more scary and to make the viewers feel like their vision is impaired. I also added music at the ending scenes, music was from a nightmare themed movie so it linked in with this piece of work perfectly as this is what the story is about, a yellow suited man chasing someone around with a weapon. Nearer the ending scene, I used a dissolving transition effect which rolled straight through to some graphics, which were the credits I put in to make it look a bit more like a movie. Camera Cuts  Jump Cut The jump cut is a technique which allows the  editor  to jump forward in time. We see an early version of this technique in Einsteins‘s, Battleship Potemkin ,  where the battleship fires a mortar round and we watch the destruction as various angles jump cut from one to another. In this very early version of the jump cut, contemporary audiences were introduced to a new way of time passage in film. It obviously gained traction and is one of the most used types of cuts today next to the hard cut.  L Cut & J Cut First, let’s talk about the  L Cut . This  editing technique  is used not only by narrative filmmakers, but is also a favorite of documentary filmmakers and commercial videographers. PSYCHO  Director - Alfred Hitchcock  Film Release Date - 1960 Genre: Mystery/Slasher I have chosen Psycho because this is an iconic masterpiece by a very decorated director, this scene birthed ideas for new directors and this had a big imprint in the film industry, this film revised the standards for horror and suspense films. “Psycho” is a 1960 American psychological mystery/slasher directed by Alfred Hitchcock. The film follows a secretary by the name of Marion Crane who, after embezzling money, finds herself at an isolated motel with the motel 's troubled owner/manager, Norman Bates. The famous “shower scene” features 77 camera angles and contains 50 different film cuts.
