JOB ROLES PROMOTIONAL FILM
JOB ROLES
For this task we have been asked to create a promotional film for a department in the college, we are going to be producing a video and that requires specific job roles on set in order to produce to the best film to help encourage new students to join and give people a somewhat detailed view on what goes on the courses.
Job roles in the production include:
Director (The director is the one responsible for telling the story and bringing it to life on screen. A director’s responsibilities include working with the actors, answering interview questions, setting location and blocking, as well as writing shot lists and deciding on the film’s overall look and composition. The director is responsible for the look, feel and mood of the film and works with all levels of creative talent and production members.)
Cinematographer (The director of photography, or DP, is responsible for capturing the script on film or video. The DP must pay attention to lighting and the camera's technical capabilities.)
Screenwriter (While the dialogue in a film may seem natural to the viewer, a writer carefully crafts it; however, the screenwriter has a big part in this as there will need to be guidelines for an interview)
Lighting Technician ( In any film, good lighting is key to creating the right atmosphere. This is what a lighting technician brings to the production process through technical knowledge and a good level of physical fitness for lifting heavy lighting equipment and creative flair. Many lighting technicians working in the film industry are already qualified electricians, while some may also have a specialist degree in a relevant subject such as lighting technology or design.)
Film/Video Editor (Working with raw footage in post-production to compile an end result that's suitable for release. They'll often work closely with the director to ensure their work is in line with the director's intentions for the film. It's no simple task - crucial, 'invisible' aspects of film, such as comedic timing, pacing and suspense, are what often elevate a production from good to outstanding quality and are the result of sharp, seamless editing. This may involve changing up the order of scenes or removing some completely.) -Patience is key with this as this is a job that requires skill and to polish the final product)
Camera Operator (Camera operators physically control camera equipment both in studio and on location for film, television and video broadcasts and recordings. They are responsible for operating a variety of technical equipment including single and multiple portable cameras, remote-control and electronic cameras, mobile mountings and even cranes.)
The role I will be taking is Director.
