Deconstruction of a promotional film

Deconstruction

For this task I will be deconstructing a prom film from Harvard uni in the United States. This is a recruitment style promo film with talking heads, showing the campus in all it's glory. 

This will help me create my own promo film for the drama department based in Ewell.

SHOT TYPE: Logo
Duration: 3 seconds
Description: The logo is shown which immediately tells the audience what the video is about, this promoting Harvard University.
Music: (Ellie Goulding "Anything can happen") - links in with the title of the video.



SHOT TYPE: Establishing shot
Duration: second
Description: showing the infamous red brick campus the overall space which is huge.




SHOT TYPE: Low angle (showing the building to be powerful and proving you can feel its presence)

Description: Shows huge building with pillars, showing the grander of the university.



SHOT TYPE: Low angle tilted
Duration: Second
Description: this shot shows a skyscraper and a beautiful sculpture, whats embedded in this shot is a possible meaning that the sky is the limit.





















SHOT TYPE: Aerial Shot
Duration: Few seconds
Description: Shows a team of rowers going across the water, selling the idea that its not just academic work and it's psychical work as well.



















SHOT TYPE: Mid shot turns around
Duration: couple of seconds
Description: the shot shows a building and spins around, in the right hand corner there is the name tag "Anthony" written, telling the viewers the name of the man they are about to interview/follow the day of.




















SHOT TYPE: Split screen shot
Duration: 3 seconds
Description: shows Anthony getting out of bed and the use of the split screen speeds up what he's doing as it shows two things at once, there is also a voice over from him saying "I still can't believe I'm at Harvard" this signifies to us that this an elite university that is hard to get into.




















SHOT TYPE: High shot
Duration: seconds
Description: shows one hall with chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, inviting food hall and looks like an overall nice place to eat considering the amount of people they house.




















SHOT TYPE: Mid shot
Duration: Long
Description: talking heads, speaking to the cabot housemasters bout the university.



















SHOT TYPE: Harvard
Duration: Last seconds
Description: the last scene shows the Harvard University sign, and as the university is so prestigious there are no contact details but you can find them easily. The channel has over 1 million subscribers so they have a lot of exposure and this video shows what goes on in this amazing uni.
