SHINING OPINIONS
The Shining
What did I think of the film? I thought the film was a masterpiece by a very decorated director, the film was scary and defiantly lived up to its horror genre, the film will have you on the edge of your seat not knowing what to expect next, I feel that this is a great film for anyone thinking about watching it.
What did I like about it? I liked the different use of camera angles across the film, this made you feel like you were in the scenes a lot more and the whole film felt like it had more of a presence due to the great work, the film is 2hr 26m long but when you get sucked into the immersive film it goes by quickly and it holds great qualities such as wanting to watch it again immediately.
What props do they use? In this film they have the infamous fire axe where he chops some of the door to stick his head through, there is the Jack Torrance red jacket and an attack knife that was used on set, the famous scene in which Shelley Duvall's Wendy Torrance fights off Jack with a baseball bat was shot no less than 128 times to get it right.
What are the characters like? Jack is a tormented man who is not right in the head, a complete psycho path who was affected and has flash backs of his dad beating his mother. Wendy is the innocent wife of Jack who is repeatedly attacked by Jack throughout the film. Danny is the son of both Jack and Wendy, he has an imaginary friend who warns him slightly through the film.
